Puppeteer Frans is boss of the Uithoorn polling station: “Today a political puppet show”

Over the past three days, thousands of volunteers have ensured that everything went smoothly at polling stations throughout the region. There are, of course, quite a few eccentric personalities among them. Puppeteer Frans Hakkemars, for example, guarded the Quakel polling station in Uithoorn today.

“And now I’m here. A political charade, huh!”, Frans laughs cheerfully. “But now it’s game for real,” he adds. The puppeteer thinks it is important to be at the polling station today, because he likes to be socially involved. “If you’re sitting here, you’re going to delve into it a bit more.”

Meanwhile, Frans also ensures that things run smoothly. “This morning I found a sign of a political party that had been smashed to pieces. I quickly put it in my car.”
