Maria Valdes (Chief Product Officer at PUMA) and Erin Longin (General Manager, Run/Train) took the stage along with PUMA ambassadors as well as well-known sporting greats such as Karsten Warholm, Marcell Jacobs, Julien Alfred, Mutaz Barshim and Pia Skrzyszowska, who provided insight into their preparations and expectations for the sports competition.

Maria Valdes said: “2023 is an important year for us – we are celebrating our 75th birthday.
Birthday. For us, athletics is the origin of many sports. She has represented our brand so well on so many occasions. From Tommie back in 1968 to Bolt’s countless world records just a few years ago. We hope that this will continue in the coming years – and that it starts here in Budapest.”

Karsten Warholm said: “You have to build trust. It obviously doesn’t come naturally. We prepare very well in training and that’s the secret behind my trust. My coach takes good care of me and we’re always in control. And when you go to a World Cup, you never know what you can pull out of a hat.”

Marcell Jacobs said: “Maybe I’ve been injured too many times over the past two years… I’ve really tried to deal with all these problems. I want to present myself in good shape, in top form and ready to face the important challenges of the World Cup in Budapest deliver.”

Julien Alfred said: “It’s fantastic to be part of the Puma family. Puma is a great brand that has paved the way for many of my idols. It feels great. And I really like the spikes!”

Guests also had the opportunity to hear statements from Jamaican athlete Shericka Jackson, Rasheed Broadbell, Hansle Parchment and rising star Jaydon Hibbert.

Shericka Jackson said: “I’ve been working hard and I’m not under pressure. I’m in good shape. I’ll show up, stay on my lane and be focused on myself.”

Rasheed Broadbell said: “It really doesn’t feel bad [nicht Favorit zu sein], but it’s good because I’m not the center of attention and there’s no pressure put on me… Those under surveillance have to deliver too. I, on the other hand, just stay in my lane, focus and deliver.”

Hansle Parchment said: “Usually everyone goes to the US to study, but we changed my mind at the last minute and I went to the University of the West Indies. That was a really good decision for me because otherwise I would be in the US Walked every weekend. Very lucky to have stayed in Jamaica.”

The 2023 World Athletics Championships will be held in Budapest from August 19th to 27th.
