Politicians who go out of their way in their contacts with women are not just a problem in The Hague. The examples are also up for grabs in London. The drama series Anatomy of a Scandal is based on this fact, in which the family of a minister is followed. He allegedly raped his co-worker in an elevator of the parliament building.

The focus is mainly on two women, the wife of the Conservative cabinet member, and the fanatical prosecutor who brings the charges to court and who is also struggling with trauma. Strangely enough, the victim barely comes into view.

Anatomy of a Scandal addresses the issue from every conceivable point of view; the role of the media, political scheming, the background of the accused perpetrator who already cheated with Monopoly as a child.

The series, based on a book by Sarah Vaughan, looks like slick pulp with a feminist approach. Psychologically, much is being turned upside down, especially student life in Oxford with its many excesses is being milked out in a lavish series of retrospectives.

Yet the series is intriguing because of the strong portrayal of Sienna Miller, who gradually opens her eyes to the true character of her husband. For her, this matter is also a self-examination.
