Puk accompanied by 1,000 bikers to the graduation party: “Ultimate statement against bullying”

The 16-year-old Puk* was dropped off tonight by a parade of tough bikers at her graduation party in IJmuiden. They drove the entrance and the preceding special tour through IJmuiden in protest against bullying.

“I feel strengthened and I’m happy that these people are behind my goal,” says the young Puk among the thousand roaring engines. “I am very happy.”

“Madhouse”, that’s how Puk’s father describes the situation. Thousands of motorcycles have come up to accompany Puk to her graduation party. Puk is being bullied at school and this seemed like a nice last stunt. “I think this is the ultimate statement against bullying and I hope people learn something from it,” said Puk’s father.

Thousand engines

Family friend Jaap Bakker placed an appeal on Facebook and the reactions soon poured in. The major indicated that it could be a little less and aimed at about 500 motorcyclists.

That didn’t quite work out, the number of tough bikers soon reached a thousand. “Fortunately, they gave us the space to make our statement,” Bakker told NH Nieuws. “It’s overwhelming.”

Puk is bullied because of her special clothing style. Puk is a ‘steampunker’ and therefore falls by the wayside, according to Bakker. “She sometimes puts on two different shoes on purpose, and she dyed her hair blue,” her father previously told NH Nieuws.

“I think it’s a very nice and unique exam stunt, especially for such an important subject,” concludes school director Marc Boelsma of Vellesan College.
