Puigdemont’s office paid for Alay’s trip to Russia in 2019

  • The Presidency initially assumed the cost of the plane ticket and later the former president’s office took charge of that money

The office of the former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont assumed a trip made by the person in charge of this organization, Josep Lluis Alayto Moscow (Russia) on March 5, 2019.

In a response from the Government to a parliamentary question from the PSC-Units, the Minister for the Presidency, Laura Vilagraexplains that his department initially assumed the cost of the plane ticketbut that the office of the former Catalan president paid them later, on April 17, said money.

“There are no other expenses related to other trips to Russia or related to a meeting on October 17, 2019 in Barcelona,” he adds in the parliamentary response.

It also recalls that the statute of the former presidents of the Generalitat establishes that the Government must provide them with the necessary means to have an office appropriate to their responsibilities and to the functions performed as well as the budget allocation for its ordinary operation and for the corresponding social and protocol services.

In addition, they must create a annual memory which must include, among other things, the description of the activities carried out, and which must be sent annually to the Parliament and must be published in the Transparency Portal of the Generalitat.
