The socialist presidents Ximo Puig, of the Valencian Community, and Concha Andreu, from La Rioja, defended this Friday the distribution of european funds carried out by the Government, in the face of the attacks received by communities presided over by the PP, to which the Cantabrian president, Miguel Revilla, has joined today.
The Executive has been defended by the mouth of the Minister of Defense and judge on leave of absence Margarita Robles, who has rejected the appeal against the distribution that the Madrid president has presented to the Supreme Court, the popular Isabel Diaz Ayuso.
Robles has lamented that the PP andbe trying to “shadow” and “judicialize political life” with the distribution of European recovery funds and “is politicizing justice when the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary is blocked”.
On your side, the leader of Cs Inés Arrimadas has charged against the PP for denouncing the distribution “by finger” of European funds, while, on the other hand, it accepts the distribution of the constitutional organs, including the judiciary. “Both things seem bad to me,” he said.
The controversy focuses mainly on nine million euros of European funds for active employment policies which will be distributed among four autonomies – Navarra, the Basque Country, Valencia and Extremadura.
Other communities, and particularly those governed by the PP, understand that must participate in the distribution of these funds, but the debate has extended beyond this specific amount.
Socialist presidents
Thus, the president of the Government of La Rioja, the socialist Concha Andreu, has considered, in statements to Efe, a “mere posture” the announcement of the Community of Madrid, led by Isabel Díaz Ayuso, from appeal to the Supreme Court the distribution to the autonomous communities of covid-19 funds of the EU by the Executive of Spain for excluding that region.
“All the governments of all the autonomous communities are doing what needs to be done, which is Submit projects for funding as a Government and to be close to the companies so that they – when it’s time, because the parts are up and running – can receive funds”, he stressed.
The president of the Valencian Generalitat, Ximo Puig, h.assured that Spain has a “serious problem associated with an irresponsible opposition” and he has accused the Popular Party of “amoral partisanship”, which he has asked to think about the “general interest”. Puig has assured that “It is not tolerable” that the PP, from the beginning of the current crisis, “has not helped at any time.”
Revilla joins the complaint
However, the Cantabrian president, Miguel Ángel Revilla (PRC), believes that the distribution of 9 million euros of European funds for employment subsidies among only four autonomous communities is “an offense” and “discrimination” towards the rest, although he did not want to clarify if he would go to court.
The debate has been unleashed since it was known yesterday that Andalusia, Galicia, Castilla y León, the Community of Madrid and the Region of Murcia, the autonomous communities governed by the PP, have denounced a distribution “unequal” and “arbitrary” of European funds by the Government.
Madrid has taken the distribution to the Supreme Court with an appeal. Castilla y León has submitted a request, prior to the judicial process, so that the central government withdraws and changes the proposal for the distribution of the funds. Andalusia announced yesterday that it does not rule out going to court. The Government responded by accusing the PP of damaging Spain by trying to wear down the Executive.
But this Friday the general secretary of the PP, Teodoro García Egea, has taken another initiative in the same direction. Egea has announced that the mayors of the PP in the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) are going to launch “an offensive so that once and for all in Europe they know that European funds are being distributed by looking at the card of the party to which they are is affiliated and not looking at the needs that a territory has”.
