Planegg (dpa) – The Austrian Andreas Puelacher is the new national coach of the alpine women’s team in the German Ski Association (DSV).
The 57-year-old succeeds Jürgen Graller, who resigned from his position at the end of the season. “With the replacement of the key positions in the alpine women’s team, we want to give new impetus to bring the team back on the road to success in the years to come,” said the Alpine Director of the DSV, Wolfgang Maier.
Puelacher is considered an experienced ski trainer and has worked for the Austrian Ski Association for the past twelve years. From 2014 he led the ÖSV men’s team around the two Olympic champions Matthias Mayer and Johannes Strolz.
“I’m looking forward to the new challenge in the German Ski Association and would like to bring my experience and know-how to the alpine women’s team,” said Puelacher. The goal is to establish more athletes in the world class.
Last winter, Lena Dürr from Munich made her breakthrough with four podium finishes in the slalom. The 18-year-old Emma Aicher is considered a great hope for young talent. In her first World Cup season, the technician finished in the top 20 four times and, like Dürr, won the silver medal in the team competition at the Olympics.
Markus Lenz takes over the management of the technical team in place of Georg Harzl.
