Public Works: Axel Kicillof and the Pro mayors on the warpath

yesterday the pro quartermasters of the Province of Buenos Aires expressed in writing their “concern over the negative response of the Governor of the Province of Buenos Aires to the concerns raised on Thursday, July 21.”

In that meeting with Axel Kicillo in La Plata, Diego Valenzuela, Julio Garro and Guillermo Montenegro (mayors of February 3, La Plata and Mar Del Plata), representing the municipal heads of the Pro, had complained about the alleged “discrimination” of the provincial government.

“The national economic crisis commits the works and the agreed security policies, and the attitude of the government towards this situation is different depending on the party’s color. We opportunely communicated the need for a update of the agreements signed, both from the Municipal Infrastructure Fund (FIM) and the Security Fund”, they stated yesterday through a statement

“With the Security fund we had to finance current expenses (fuel, spare parts, maintenance) whose amounts have increased notably in recent months,” they denounced in that letter in relation to the delays in turns and the difference generated by the inflation.

“The Province also has numerous discretionary resources that come from the Nation and that have not been co-participated with the municipalities (152,000 million as of July). Along these lines, through our legislative blocs, we will insist on legislation that allows for the co-participation of all funds”, concluded the pro quartermasters from the province of Buenos Aires.

“The mayors of Together for Change who are saying that they are being discriminated against is a lie. We are in an inflationary situation that impacts us all. The governor, the technical teams and the ministries are working on a solution for everyone,” he answered. Charles Whitechief adviser to the governor Axel Kicillo.

“The money is being transferred to these mayors as long as they have presented the projects on time, in the correct manner and in the correct manner. They ask that the amounts be readjusted, but those amounts are approved by law. The governor cannot dispose of more funds. Nobody can say that there is discrimination”, Bianco gets angry.

Gabriel Katopodis

“We started the year with some delays due to lack of budget, we just had the famous DNU 40 days ago, all of that complicated us, but there is a dynamic of execution in public works, we have been working at a good pace and fulfilling the objectives”, acknowledges Gabriel Katopodis from the national Ministry of Public Works.

The Nation owes a lot to the province of Buenos Aires, and this owes the municipalities, because it is the gateway to the neighbors. That is why we have a lot to say”, the mayor “Pro” of Lanús defends himself, Nestor Grindetti.

“I go through the municipalities and talk to the mayors, I understand that we have a very difficult global and regional context, but there is a social assistance network that is enormous. There is public work in any locality in Argentina. I take works to the 135 municipalities (in the province of Buenos Aires) and I sit down with the mayors of the opposition because when it was my turn to be one, the treatment was arbitrary, marked Katopodis pointing against the management of the former governor, Maria Eugenia Vidalin a bill pass.

A climate of tension that heralds the anticipation of a election year that begins to stick, and where Public Works and Security are axes for the heads of each district, the same as for the government for demonstrate management on the straight to renewal of mandates.
