Public transport tickets more expensive from April 1st – 20 cents more!

From BZ/dpa

From Saturday, 20 cents more will be charged per single journey on local public transport in Berlin and Brandenburg.

With effect from April 1, the Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB) has raised ticket prices. A single ticket for the Berlin AB area therefore costs EUR 3.20 from Saturday, and EUR 2.20 for a short journey.

The ticket for the ABC area, which has to be purchased for the trip from Berlin city center to Berlin Brandenburg Airport, then costs 4.00 euros. The price of the 4-journey ticket in the AB fare zone increases from 9.40 to 10.00 euros.

The VBB environmental card Berlin ABC as a subscription with monthly debit costs EUR 88.00 per month from April. The subscription to the VBB-Umweltkarte Berlin AB with monthly debit will only increase from 1 May from 63.42 euros to 66.90 euros per month in the future.

Until then, the 29-euro ticket is still available in this fare zone in Berlin. An extension of this offer beyond April is still being discussed in Berlin politics, but a complete connection to May 1 is no longer considered possible.

Many passengers are likely to switch from the environmental card to the planned 49-euro ticket in May, which should be valid throughout Germany. The environmental card offers the opportunity to take other passengers with you at certain times, and it is also transferrable. Neither applies to the Deutschlandticket.

The price for the AB single ticket in Potsdam will increase from 2.30 to 2.50 euros from Saturday. In Brandenburg an der Havel, Frankfurt (Oder) and Cottbus, 2.10 euros are due for the AB ticket at the turn of the month.
