The former nurse at the Wilhelmina Hospital Assen (WZA) is suspected of involvement in the deaths of several patients. This would have happened during the corona pandemic, between March 2020 and May 2022. V. worked in the lung department at that time.
Initially, V. was linked to the deaths of twenty patients. However, V. was not involved in some of the cases, the Public Prosecution Service concluded last autumn. It is unclear how many suspicious deaths are still being investigated.
The Public Prosecution Service writes in a new statement that the research results are expected in the first quarter of this year. ‘Shortly afterwards’ the justice department expects to make a final decision on prosecution.
Theodoor V. from Veenhuizen came into the picture of the Public Prosecution Service because he allegedly made a confession to GGZ Drenthe. He allegedly told emergency workers that he had killed patients. The GGZ passed this on to the WZA, which filed a report.
V. was arrested in April 2023, but has been free for six months pending the criminal investigation.
