Public health officer: Hardly anyone takes the corona incidence in the management report seriously

According to the Reinickendorf medical officer Patrick Larscheid, the value for the seven-day incidence in the Senate’s daily Corona situation report cannot be trusted.

According to his observation, hardly anyone takes the corona incidence seriously anymore, said Larscheid in the RBB evening show on Tuesday evening. “Due to the changed test regulation, certain cases no longer count the way we used to count them.”

The seven-day incidence in the management report for Tuesday is 1135.2. However, no results of positive rapid tests are included in the statistics – such antigen tests are now standard, for example when testing free from quarantine.

In addition, health authorities often do not report corona infections at all or only report them belatedly. “All in all, what is happening, which is definitely being tested, is no longer shown correctly in the management reports, you have to say that,” said Larscheid.

Berlin’s Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD) herself drew attention to the problem after the Senate session on Tuesday: “Of course there is an inaccuracy in the transmission of data from the health authorities, because there is certainly a data delay and also incomplete data transmission.”

However, Giffey pointed to other indicators in the management report as a guide, such as the incidence of hospitalization and the utilization of intensive care beds with Covid patients: “We see elsewhere how it is in the hospitals, how it is in the intensive care units, how it is the sick leave in the critical infrastructure.”
