Public fruit in Westerbork: ‘This certainly leaves you wanting more’

The selected fruit trees are all different. “The Drenthe Bellefleur, Zoete Kroon, several pears, a few plums,” Van Hoek lists. “Because they are all different, they also bloom at a different time and that is very important for insects.”

According to Van Hoek, a visible location was specifically chosen for the new orchard. This may open the doors to other future plans. The working group still dreams of more diverse woodlands or a food forest. “This certainly leaves you wanting more.”
