Public favorite Yassine Zakir leaves Telstar: “I want something different”

Yassine Zakir is about to leave Telstar. The right back says goodbye to the Velsenaren after a season. “I have decided for myself to leave. I just don’t know which club yet,” says Zakir.

“My agent is in talks with clubs at home and abroad,” says the ambitious wing defender. He does add that the door at Telstar is still ajar. “I still have a permanent contract, but there is a very good chance that I will leave.”

Zakir has only been under contract with Telstar for a year. “I just want something different. Sometimes there comes a time in your life when you’re ready for something new,” he says. According to him, the upcoming departure has nothing to do with the new trainer Mike Snoei. “I get on very well with him,” says Zakir, who is still training with Telstar. “The trainer is sorry, because he had counted on me. Unfortunately, that is the football world.”

Competition

Snoei commented on the imminent departure from Telstar after the practice match against FC Lisse. “He has opted for a different challenge. We think that is a great pity, because I still saw music in it. If he thinks he does not have the time to play here and does not want to fight with a competitor. Then you also have to make a different choice,” says Snoei.

The 25-year-old right back of Telstar went through a stormy development last year. He came over from the indoor football players of White Stones and immediately made an impression in Velsen-Zuid. Under trainer Andries Jonker, he immediately grew into a crowd favorite and one of the supporting forces.

Telstar has now completed two practice matches in preparation. In particular, many test players were assessed. Yesterday Snoei’s team won 2-0 against FC Lisse. The meeting with relegated Willem II awaits this Saturday in Loon op Zand.
