PSV will compete with Ajax in the final for the KNVB Cup on April 17. Ajax defeated AZ on Thursday evening in the semi-final battle for the silver cup with 0-2.
PSV and Ajax last met in the final of the KNVB Cup in 2006. Ajax won that final battle 2-1.
Win against Go Ahead Eagles
PSV already qualified for the final of the KNVB Cup on Wednesday with a win in the away game against Go Ahead Eagles (1-2).
Ajax owed the victory over AZ on Thursday to hits from Steven Berghuis and substitute Davy Klaassen. Berghuis scored in the 11th minute. Klaassen determined the final score in the 89th minute.
Final
The team from Amsterdam ended a great run by AZ in Alkmaar, which remained unbeaten for no fewer than eighteen games in a row in various competitions.
The final is on Sunday 17 April at 6 p.m. in the Rotterdam Kuip.
