PSV and sponsor EnergieDirect.nl have announced the first names of former players who will receive a place on the Walk of Fame. It concerns Luc Nilis, Ronaldo and ‘Mister PSV’ Willy van der Kuijlen. On Saturday afternoon, all ten tiles will be unveiled during the PSV fan day.
Supporters were allowed to vote on who should be on such a tile. The Walk of Fame will soon be located on the east side of the Philips Stadium with the footprints of well-known PSV players from the past and present. The tiles with footprints and handprints (in the case of goalkeepers) will be announced by well-known ex-PSV players themselves on Saturday.
The Walk of Fame is a thank you from sponsor Energiedirect.nl. The energy supplier will stop as a shirt sponsor for the Eindhoven residents after six years. PSV wants to add more tiles in the future.
A Walk of Fame at a football stadium is not new. At the Gelredome in Arnhem there is also a but of artists who have performed there. For example, Snollebollekes and Frans Bauer received such a tile, as did Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi and Madonna. Also in Arnhem are tiles with dates of important matches.
