PSV supporters support Robbie Hageman again

PSV supporters have once again encouraged the seriously ill kickboxer Robbie Hageman from Eindhoven. The supporters club PSV Fans United had a large banner made with a photo of Hageman and the text ‘Rabbit, win this fight, good luck!’

Family and close friends of the kickboxer came to the Philips Stadium on Wednesday afternoon, where a photo of them with the banner was taken.

Real friends
That photo will be offered to Hageman at a later date, says Frits Bovers, chairman of the organizing supporters club. “Robbie is still in hospital in Tilburg, so we have to agree with his father what is a suitable moment.”

Father Theo stood between the supporters to hold the banner. “It was impressive. These are real friends.” According to Theo Hageman, his son actually does not like actions. “He doesn’t know this yet either. He will certainly appreciate this.”

brain tumor
The kickboxer who is a PSV fan has a brain tumor and was operated on Tuesday. The operation went well, now a year and a half of chemotherapy starts. The recovery is then another six months.

Theo says that his son is not doing well after the operation. “He is in a lot of pain, he is nauseous and has already had morphine four times. That is not surprising, it is the second time he has had surgery and this time they have gone a lot deeper.”

Bovers hopes that Robbie will recover quickly and that he can visit the hospital to show the pictures. “It’s not nothing, we want to give him extra support. We already did that two years ago. He is always there for us, we also for him. He needs all the support now.” The banner will hang in the stadium on Saturday during the game against AZ.

Not in the ring anymore
The athlete will no longer return to the ring for competitions, but plans to continue to exercise fanatically during the chemo, even if he has lost part of his vision.

Shortly before his operation, Robbie Hageman said to Omroep Brabant: “A normal person thinks that you cannot exercise during chemotherapy. I think I can just exercise and do everything and give training. I know one hundred percent that it is possible. Last time I was able to go home after two days and I was in the gym after four days.”

Previous action PSV fans
PSV supporters also gave him a helping hand at the end of 2019 during a home game against Zwolle. Then a large banner was displayed in the stadium that read: ‘Robbie, good luck in the most important fight of your life’. That was shortly before an operation, in which part of the tumor was already removed. However, a small piece remained and it started to grow again.
