PSV supporters are having a party early in Seville despite the rain

Despite the rain, the PSV supporters in Seville managed to have a party. This is partly due to Hans who is holding an ‘Awayday Party’ for the tenth time together with two friends. From ten o’clock in the morning the beer flows freely and hundreds of supporters find their way to the party.

The aim of the Awayday Party is to get the most PSV supporters in one place and drink a beer together. The idea originated in Basel where a beer is quite expensive. An agreement was made with a pub for a reduced rate, after which there was a big party.

Hans tries to arrange every European away match with the same idea with two friends. “This is the tenth edition,” he says proudly. “We once started with 200 people, but the supporters are increasingly finding our parties. We always try to find a nice place with adjusted beer prices. The supporters find that especially important.”

“We’re turning it into a real Brabant PSV party.”

For this edition, Hans received extra help from Seville. Sabine grew up in Den Bosch but now lives in Seville. As a born PSV fan, she helped find a good pub. “You try to make a good deal with a pub so that we can turn it into a real Brabant PSV party. Despite the rain, we succeeded again.”

Because that’s the only blemish on the party. It’s raining very hard in Seville on Wednesday. “It never rains here,” says Sabine. “We might get this rain once every 100 years.”

“It’s shitty weather but it’s really fun.”

Yet it should not spoil the fun for the supporters, Sabine also sees. “I’m really surprised at how busy it is. We opened at ten o’clock and at five past ten the first PSV supporters were already here drinking a beer.”

Roy is one of the supporters who drinks beer early. “The weather is bad, but it is really nice here. We’ll make it a great party!”

And Hans as an organizer is very happy with that. “You notice that the supporters don’t want to miss it. Of course we hoped it would be dry, but when I look around I only see happy faces. We can already speak of a successful edition!”
