PSV officially says goodbye to Ritsu Doan. The 24-year-old Japanese signs a contract with the German SC Freiburg, the number 6 of the Bundesliga last season. PSV will receive about 8.5 million for the attacking midfielder.
Doan was bought from FC Groningen three years ago for about 7.5 million euros. In Eindhoven he was unable to break any pots in his debut season. Therefore, he was loaned out to German club Arminia Bielefeld the following year. Last season, the Japanese still proved his worth. Under coach Schmidt he played 39 games, scoring 11 goals.
Europa League
Nevertheless, Doan was allowed to leave PSV this summer, despite his current contract. At SC Freiburg he becomes a teammate of goalkeeper Mark Fleks. He will play in the Europa League next season with the Germans.
