PSV receives hefty fines for misconduct supporters in Leicester City duel

At the beginning of May, PSV received two fines of 25,000 euros each from the EUFA football association after misconduct by the supporters on April 14 after the quarterfinals of the Conference League against Leicester City. The Eindhoven club lost the match 1-2.

PSV was fined one for setting off fireworks, the other for public disturbances.

Charges by the ME
Rioting supporters caused unrest in the center of Eindhoven after the match. The ME carried out charges. Police also arrested eight people.

Leicester fans were led to the 18 September Square by the police, but there followed a confrontation with some PSV supporters. As a result, the ME had to intervene.

The ME also charged around the stadium and on the Demer. Immediately after the game, the police had used horses and dogs to restrain the fans of both teams.

Opponent Leicester City was also fined. The English club has to pay 15,000 euros because of disturbances.

Previous fine
In October 2021, PSV already had to pay 33,625 euros to UEFA. The club was then punished for misconduct by fans at the end of September during the Europa League match against Sturm Graz in Austria. During that game, the fans threw things on the field and caused destruction.

Toon Gerbrands, the general manager of PSV, was angry with the fans at the time. “We no longer accept that people misbehave in the name of PSV, especially when we are guests.

“This misconduct is not supported and I want it to end for good. We have now contacted the Austrian authorities and Sturm Graz and are doing everything we can to identify the perpetrators. We will recover the fine from them,” he said. in October.
