PSV reaches the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup after an easy victory over ADO

PSV has reached the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup with ease. In-house it was 3-1 too strong for ADO Den Haag. The home side had very few problems with the first divisionist and will be anxiously watching Saturday night’s draw.

ADO could just as well have stayed in The Hague on Thursday evening, because the visitors came to the Philips Stadium without any intentions. The first divisionist is involved in the battle for the third period in the Kitchen Champion Division and thought it was more important than the quarter finals of the cup.

It led to PSV having a simple evening. After 20 minutes the game was already decided by goals from Johan Bakayoko and Guus Til. They had put the home side ahead 2-0.

Wonderful hits
PSV started with almost the strongest eleven names. Only Xavi Simons started on the bench after being a bit sick this week. On Sunday he is normally just a basic player again. ADO just started with many changes. That was reflected on the field. The B team couldn’t break pots.

After the 2-0 halftime score, both teams had decided to entertain the public. Because after the break there were two wonderful goals on both sides. Ibrahim Sangaré shot hard in the cross. A ball that the goalkeeper has only heard. A minute later, Malik Sellouki did the same. His long shot also flew in brilliantly. 3-1.

Draw
There was no more scoring, making the final score 3-1. Without wasting too much strength, PSV advances to the semi-finals.

For years, PSV performed very poorly in the KNVB Cup tournament, but those lean years seem to have come to an end. Last year the team from Eindhoven won the cup and this year the final beckons as well. The draw for next Saturday will be watched with great excitement. A match against stunt team Spakenburg would open the way to another final. But matches against Feyenoord and Ajax (if they beat De Graafschap) are also possible.
