With videoBorussia Dortmund suffered a surprising defeat on Sunday. Five days after the draw (1-1) against PSV in the eighth finals of the Champions League, coach Edin Terzic’s team lost in front of its own audience against middle-ranking Hoffenheim: 2-3.
Donyell Malen scored again, just like against PSV. The attacker responded attentively halfway through the first half when Julian Brandt extended a corner kick (1-1). Hoffenheim had already taken the lead in the second minute through Ihlas Bebou.
Shortly after Malen’s goal, defender Nico Schlotterbeck, who is suspended for the return against PSV, gave Dortmund the lead. Hoffenheim struck after halftime. Maximilian Beier scored in the 61st and 64th minutes. Wout Weghorst replaced the attacker in the 79th minute.

The Dortmund supporters whistled at their players afterwards. The club remains in fourth place, 1 point ahead of number 5 RB Leizpig. Dortmund and PSV will face each other for the second time on Wednesday, March 13, and will then compete for a place in the quarter-finals.
For Malen, who received a yellow card in injury time, it was his tenth goal this season in the competition. Last season he got stuck on nine hits. Ian Maatsen also had a starting place for the home team. The defender left fifteen minutes before the end.
