PSV narrowly takes an important point against Sevilla after a thrilling match

Thanks to a goal by Jordan Teze in the last minute of injury time, PSV has one point left in the second group match in the Champions League. At home they drew 2-2 against Sevilla.

PSV had to show on Tuesday evening that it was good enough for the Champions League. Sevilla, a direct competitor for second place in the group, visited the Philips Stadium. And despite an awkward start, the home team quickly took control of the match, without really becoming dangerous. The Spaniards only became so because of the sloppiness of the people of Eindhoven.

Those carelessness were ultimately punished by Sevilla after halftime. André Ramalho in particular had a very unhappy second half. After 52 minutes he handed the ball in with ease and Adria Pedrosa was able to score. PSV had one piece of luck. The Seville defender had touched the ball with his hand and so the score remained 0-0.

Weak defense
On the other hand, the Eindhoven team were very close to taking the lead through Malik Tillman and Noa Lang. The latter even hit the post. But at the other end, the defense continued to shoot with Ramalho in the lead role. Youssef En-Nesyri was unable to take advantage of the Brazilian’s failure to cover. His shot hit the crossbar.

The third time, Sevilla’s weak defense was punished. A long ball was headed across by Sergio Ramos, after which Nemanja Gudelj, born in Breda, was able to work completely freely. No one was covering the defender. 0-1.

Teze saves PSV
PSV was shocked for a moment but then went looking for the equalizer. But finishing chances remained a problem. Lang was very threatening but his shots just missed the precision. The Eindhoven team was helped by Sevilla five minutes before the end. Ramos fouled Tillman in the box. Luuk de Jong managed to use the penalty and put PSV on level terms.

The audience could not enjoy that for even half a minute, because from the kick-off it was immediately a hit at the other end. The Spaniards were given free passage on the right after which Nesyri headed home from the cross. For a moment, the Eindhoven team also seemed to lose the second group match, but Jordan Teze saved a point for the Eindhoven team in the very last minute of injury time. He managed to tap the ball into the goal after receiving the ball at his feet from a free kick.

A crucial point as Lens managed to win against Arsenal. The gap in 2nd place remains three points, the French are PSV’s next opponent at the end of October.
