PSV won 3-1 against FC Volendam on Saturday evening. They failed to score a bigger score at home and Peter Bosz’s team still made it exciting. Thanks to the victory, the Eindhoven team still remains clear in the Eredivisie.
PSV also managed to win its seventh match in the Eredivisie. But while the Eindhoven team has scored quite easily in recent weeks, it was disappointing on Saturday evening.
Especially after the early lead, everyone in the stadium sat down. Noa Lang initiated the attack himself and gave PSV the lead with a devastating strike. You can question the performance of the Volendam goalkeeper.
Mediocre finish
After that, the Eindhoven team lacked sharpness and a good final pass. It forgot to extend its lead further. That worked quickly in the second half. On a pass from Malik Tillman, the midfielder had a starting place, Guus Til scored the second Eindhoven goal.
But even then PSV wasted many moments. It was entirely his own fault that things got a bit tense fifteen minutes before the end.
Penalty kick Volendam
Olivier Boscagli knocked down Lequincio Zeefuik in the penalty area. FC Volendam therefore received a penalty. This was shot in flawlessly by Calvin Twigt. 2-1 with fifteen minutes to play. It was no longer really exciting for the PSV goal. Partly due to a late red card on the Volendam side. Even after that, PSV continued to miss opportunities. Substitute Ricardo Pepi, among others, had two more opportunities. Yet one more goal was scored. Malik Tillman put the 3-1 final score on the scoreboard.
Peter Bosz’s team is still flawless in the Eredivisie. However, the trainer will not be satisfied with his team’s attacking play in particular. The fact that it became exciting in the last fifteen minutes cannot be justified in any way. The second match in the Champions League awaits on Tuesday. Sevilla will then visit the Philips Stadium.
