PSV is still not convincing, but they beat Go Ahead Eagles

It wasn’t always good Saturday afternoon in the Philips Stadium, but the result counted. PSV won 2-0 against Go Ahead Eagles in a sleep-inducing match. It can work towards the crucial match against Feyenoord with a calm feeling.

The word crisis had been mentioned and so there was an anxious atmosphere in the stadium. Everyone wondered whether PSV could recover from the debacle against FC Emmen. Go Ahead Eagles, undefeated until Wednesday, was a typical opponent in which the Eindhoven team could choke again. As has happened many times this year.

The start was promising and PSV showed that they wanted revenge. But after Joey Veerman’s 1-0, he got a basic spot again after four substitutions, the level dropped far again.

Go Ahead Eagles didn’t get any big chances, but it was threatening. At the start of the second half, the visitors also seemed to be brazenly looking for the equalizer, but 25 minutes before the end it was Anwar El Ghazi who closed the game. His 2-0 made the game even less attractive.

Crucial week
Ruud van Nistelrooij and the whole of PSV will be fed up with that for the time being. The three points had to be achieved in order to be able to work towards Feyenoord with a calm feeling and, above all, to prevent an even bigger crisis.

Quietly we will work towards the squatter against the leader of the Eredivisie. Still, there is plenty of work to be done. The team is still not convincing and replacements for Noni Madueke and Cody Gakpo have not yet been presented. Gain Fabio Silva was in the selection on Saturday, but got a few minutes as a substitute.

The deadline of the transfer window awaits on Tuesday, followed by the away match against Feyenoord on Sunday. A crucial week in which it will become clear which ambitions can be pursued in Eindhoven.
