PSV does not benefit from FC Zurich and wins with large numbers

PSV won 1-5 against FC Zurich on Thursday evening. After 35 minutes of football, the match was already decided with a 0-4 score. The Eindhoven club took revenge in Switzerland for last weekend’s hard defeat against SC Cambuur (3-0).

After the debacle in Leeuwarden, PSV could not afford another misstep. For the game with FC Zurich, coach Ruud van Nistelrooij changed his basic team in three places compared to the lost match against Cambuur.

One change quickly turned out well. Yorbe Vertessen started in the point of the attack and he made the 0-1 after ten minutes. Less than five minutes later, the 0-2 was already in the goal. Again it was the Belgian who scored.

Weak Zurich
PSV was sitting on roses, but what was particularly striking was that FC Zurich was a very mediocre team. The Eindhoven team did exactly what they had to do against such a weak opponent.

They went over it in no time. After 35 minutes there was already a 0-4 score on the scoreboard. Cody Gakpo and Xavi Simons were responsible for the goals.

PSV, where Jordan Teze and Jarrad Branthwaite started on the bench, were on their way to an easy win. The only moment of inattention in the first half was just before half-time when Tosin Aiyegun shot over the open goal.

Good stats Gakpo
There was a lot to do around Cody Gakpo last transfer period, but in the end the attacker stayed in Eindhoven. There are now many statistics that emphasize the good performance of the Eindhoven resident. Gakpo made the 0-5 just after the break and he equalized the great Romario in an illustrious list. In addition, there is not a single player in the biggest leagues who has given ten goals and ten assists.

After the fifth goal it became a sluggish affair. PSV played the game calmly and the Swiss formation was fine with the damage not getting any bigger. She even managed to score. Just before time it became 1-5 and that was also the result.

PSV therefore took revenge for the shameful league defeat against Cambuur. The only caveat you can add is what this win is worth in addition to the much-needed three points. The resistance was far too low and next Sunday, when the away match against SC Heerenveen is scheduled, we will only really know whether the defeat against Cambuur was an incident.
