PSV confirmed departure
PSV Eindhoven loses its most valuable player – and the till doesn’t ring. The runner-up gave known on Sunday morningthat Xavi Simons (20) left the training camp to finalize his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. The attacking midfielder is said to have a clause in his contract, signed last summer, that allows him to return to PSG for a fee of 6 million euros.

PSV signed Simons on a free transfer from the French champions in 2022 and signed him until 2027. It’s going back after just one season. In the past twelve months, he has collected 34 points in 48 games and managed the breakthrough that was denied him in Paris. Simons is now a Dutch international and has increased his market value in a PSV shirt from 4 million to a whopping 40 million euros.
According to the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano Simons will probably only play for PSG next season if Kylian Mbappé (24) or Neymar (31) leave the club. If not, it should be awarded. Simons moved to Paris from the FC Barcelona youth team on a free transfer in 2019 and has played eleven games for the PSG professionals to date.
Update 1:00 p.m.: RB Leipzig is said to have already expressed an interest in a loan deal and are putting pressure on it. The Bundesliga club is even a favorite among many competitors. It would be the fourth or fifth transfer from Paris to Saxony (PSG/Leipzig transfer streams). The fourth will probably be defensive talent El Chadaille Bitshiabu (18), whose transfer is to be finalized promptly for a fee of up to 20 million euros.
Update 4:14 p.m.: Also the French sports daily “L’Equipe” meanwhile reports that Simons should go on loan to RB Leipzig. According to the reports, a purchase option is definitely not planned.
