The whole of Eindhoven is eagerly looking forward to PSV’s eighth final in the Champions League next Tuesday. Even the social media team of the Eindhoven club already placed a call this week for all supporters to come in red. The call came remarkably early as there is still a league match against Heracles on Friday evening.
“I really don’t care,” Peter Bosz was fierce when confronted with the call. The trainer didn’t want to know anything about it and actually only wanted to talk about Heracles. “I’m working on tomorrow. I haven’t heard anyone within the selection about it yet. For us, only Heracles matters.”
According to the coach, it is not difficult to qualify for the eighth finals of the Champions League. “Heracles is also a very important match if you want to become champion. You sometimes hear: ‘It’s just the Eredivisie’, but it is not easy to stay focused.”
“Of course underestimation is lurking.”
Yet Bosz is not deaf to stories about a possible underestimation of the club from Almelo. “Of course that is lurking. But we as staff must prevent that. Fortunately, we also get help from some experienced players in the group. The fact that we are still undefeated in the competition is really something that still lives.”
So full focus is still on Heracles, but Bosz cannot deny that the match against Dortmund is timely. On Tuesday, injured players had enough time to regain their rhythm. Joey Veerman was in the starting line-up against Volendam last week and can continue to build up in a match against Heracles.
“Who knows, Heracles may have a surprise in store for us.”
“Veerman and Tillman were able to make minutes and came out of the match well. Only Guus Til, Noa lang and Armel Bella-Kotchap are not there.” Although the latter will make minutes for Jong PSV on Thursday evening.
Bosz expects a difficult match against Heracles. “Because they have a block of five defenders and four midfielders. We saw against FC Volendam that we had a hard time against them for a long time. But who knows, maybe they have a surprise in store for us. That is why we focus on Heracles, we will talk about Dortmund afterwards.”
