PSV brings youth international Hoever back to the Netherlands on a rental basis | NOW

PSV confirmed the arrival of Ki-Jana Hoever on Thursday. The Eindhoven club adds the defender of Wolverhampton Wanderers to the selection for a year on a rental basis.

Twenty-year-old Hoever returns to the Netherlands with the rental transfer, where he played in Ajax’s youth academy. He moved to Liverpool at the age of sixteen, where it did not come to a breakthrough.

Nevertheless, Hoever did put himself in the spotlight with the Liverpool youth team and went to Wolverhampton two years ago for about 10 million euros. Hoever has so far played 25 first-team matches for the ‘Wolves’, of which 20 in the Premier League.

PSV has tried to bring Hoever to Eindhoven permanently, but that was not possible, according to director of football affairs John de Jong. “A lease with an option to buy was unnegotiable for Wolverhampton at the moment. They only recently paid a hefty transfer fee for Ki-Jana.”

“We did not want to run the risk of weeks of negotiations. That is why we acted quickly,” continues De Jong. “We are hiring Ki-Jana because we are convinced of his qualities and consider it crucial that he joins early in the preparation.”

Hoever is the third newcomer for Ruud van Nistelrooij, who took over from the departed Roger Schmidt this summer. Earlier, the Eindhoven players recorded goalkeepers Boy Waterman and Walter Benítez.
