PSV also wins a difficult away match against FC Twente after an early red card

PSV did good business on Saturday evening in the battle for the national championship. In the difficult away match against FC Twente, they were unscathed. Goals from Veerman, Bakayoko and an own goal helped PSV to a carefree 3-0 win. Thanks to the victory, the Eindhoven team still remains clear in the Eredivisie.

After a quarter of the match, PSV was helped into the saddle. Mees Hilgers hit Hirving Lozano hard. Referee Allard Lindhout first gave a yellow card, but after watching the images he still gave a red card to the Twente defender.

Nobody has it easy in Enschede. FC Twente has not lost in its own stadium for 24 games in a row. But the early red card made things easy for PSV.

Perfect counter
A unique opportunity to win the incredibly difficult away match at FC Twente. Yet it didn’t get much easier. PSV played messily and made few successful attacks. But just before half time it happened.

Precisely at the moment when Twente thinks they can take advantage, André Ramalho intervenes excellently. PSV comes out with a lot of men through Guus Til and Johan Bakayoko. The Belgian winger makes a perfect pass to Joey Veerman, who manages to pass the Twente goalie. A textbook counter and PSV took the lead.

Luck
Just after half time, PSV closed the game early. Out of the mix, it is ultimately Robin Pröpper who fumbles the ball behind his own goalkeeper. A typical goal for the match.

Because PSV didn’t even play that well, but was helped by FC Twente. The red card is more than justified and own goals are also part of football, but the leader should not lack luck. The champion’s luck?

Bakayoko scored a third Eindhoven goal ten minutes before the end. He remained calmly face to face with Unnerstal.

Championship
PSV starts the difficult week perfectly. It wins unscathed against FC Twente and can prepare for the next two top players. Sevilla awaits on Wednesday, after which PSV visits Feyenoord on Sunday.

Thanks to the victory over Twente, PSV maintains a seven-point lead over pursuer Feyenoord. If the people of Eindhoven also win next week in De Kuip, it will be a giant step towards a possible championship.
