2. Mendes deal after Paris
Vitinha’s transfer to Paris Saint-Germain is official. The 22-year-old midfielder comes from FC Porto in Ligue 1 and, according to media reports, costs 40 million euros. This corresponds to the exit clause that the legal footer had in his contract in Portugal, which runs until 2024. In the French capital he has now signed until 2027.
PSG are handing as much money for Vitinha as they have ever done for eleven other signings. While nine professionals were more expensive, the Portuguese shares tenth place with Lucas Moura (2012 from FC São Paulo) and Leandro Paredes (2018 from Zenit St. Petersburg). With Nuno Mendes, whose purchase option was activated after a one-year loan from Sporting Lisbon, the second purchase this summer is also just behind – both are represented by star advisor Jorge Mendes. With a total of 78 million euros, PSG is now one of the three clubs most willing to spend in this transfer phase.
Marquinhos to Neymar: PSG’s most expensive arrivals
Vitinha comes from FC Porto’s own youth and made the leap to the pros in 2020. After a loan to Wolverhampton Wanderers, he played in the main line-up of his youth club. 47 appearances with four goals and five assists were recorded in the past season, his market value improved from 7 million to 30 million euros.
