Galtier confirmed
Paris Saint-Germain will have to do without storm star Neymar in the round of 16 second leg at FC Bayern Munich next Wednesday (9 p.m.). “He’s not available for the next two. He’s one of our top scorers and assists in Ligue 1 so it’s a big loss,” PSG coach Christophe Galtier said during a press conference on Friday. Neymar suffered a ligament injury in his ankle and a sprain in mid-February.
Rape allegation: the judiciary is investigating PSG defender Hakimi
Galtier was also asked about the current status of full-back Achraf Hakimi on Friday. The French public prosecutor’s office had previously launched investigations into the 24-year-old Moroccan international for allegations of rape. The judiciary in Nanterre confirmed to the “German Press Agency” that investigations against Hakimi were initiated on Thursday evening after a survey.
The process can lead to a criminal trial if investigators see sufficient evidence against the suspect. Otherwise, they can also discontinue the procedure. Hakimi’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, told the newspaper “Le Parisien‘ said: ‘The allegations are false.’ A 24-year-old woman had told police that she had been raped by Hakimi last weekend. The woman reportedly did not press charges, but because of the seriousness of the allegation, the police informed the public prosecutor’s office.
Hakimi has been placed under judicial supervision and is not allowed to have any contact with his alleged victim. After the allegation became known, PSG initially supported the ex-Dortmunder. “The club supports the player who has firmly denied the allegations and trusts the judiciary. PSG is an institution that promises respect on and off the pitch.”
Galtier said Friday he would not comment on non-sporting issues. Hakimi was out most recently with a hamstring injury but is expected to return to team training. According to Galtier, he recently “trained individually because of an injury that came from the World Cup. The goal of the staff is that he is available against Bayern. We will look after him normally, he will train on Saturday and Sunday and the goal is for him to be available against Bayern.”
