PSG boss apparently fired after Mbappé coup

French soccer champions Paris St. Germain have fired sports director Leonardo. This is reported by various media, including the news agency “AFP”.

The former Brazil international, who himself played for PSG and AC Milan, was in charge of putting together the Paris star ensemble from 2011 to 2013 and since 2019. However, the club is still waiting for the hoped-for Champions League title.

Leonardo’s dismissal apparently came just a few hours after the last league game against FC Metz (5-0) and the much-discussed contract extension with star striker Kylian Mbappé.

The world champion had canceled Real Madrid and signed a new three-year contract in his home country, the volume of the contract provoked severe criticism in Spain. Mbappé scored three times against Metz.

According to media reports, the successor to Leonardo, who brought superstar Lionel Messi from Barcelona to Paris last year, is to be Portuguese Luis Campos, who most recently worked at AS Monaco (2013 to 2016) and OSC Lille (2017 to 2020).
