Russia insists that the chemical weapons program could be developed by Ukraine. Washington supplies protective equipment to Kiev

The United States is supplying Ukraine with equipment in case Russia uses biological or chemical weapons, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said (a video of the briefing was published by Fox News).
“To help our Ukrainian partners, the US government is providing protective gear and equipment to the government of Ukraine,” Psaki said.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz warned of “dramatic measures” if Russia uses biological or chemical weapons in Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in turn, stated that biological weapons components were created in Ukraine in the immediate vicinity of the Russian border. The existence of laboratories in Ukraine where such developments were carried out with funding from the Pentagon was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense. Both the United States and Ukraine denied these accusations. The UN said that the organization is not aware of the presence in Ukraine of “any program for the development of biological weapons” and that they currently do not have the mandate and technical capabilities to investigate the data of the Russian side.
