PS Deputy Prime Minister Pierre-Yves Dermagne wants to abolish the Belgian monarchy. “I cannot approve a system that creates inequality between citizens,” says the federal minister in the magazine ‘Wilfried’. He argues for a presidential system with an alternation between the language groups for the choice of the president. The French-speaking socialists say they know Dermagne’s vision and have no problem with him proclaiming it, “as long as he clearly states that it is his personal opinion”. That is what spokesperson Tineke Sonck said to HLN.
