Provincial search for new industrial areas is met with protest

They think it is not possible that wetlands and agricultural areas would be taken over for industry. The province thinks the concern is premature and says the public inquiry is ongoing. Local residents will therefore lodge an objection during the public inquiry that is currently underway. The province says it will certainly take objections seriously.

All in all, the province is looking for 450 hectares for new industrial areas, of which 50 hectares in the region around Waregem.

Nature associations ask to first free up space on existing business parks that are poorly organized and to leave the open space open.
