Province will hold meetings about transferium De Punt at the end of October

The province of Drenthe will hold a number of meetings at the end of October about the possible arrival of a transferium along the A28, at De Punt. The idea is to enter into a dialogue with the environment and determine the support base. Based on this, the province will reconsider or not reconsider the plan.

This is stated in the answers to questions that the Party for the Animals posed to the provincial government of Drenthe. The transferium will consist of a large parking lot for hundreds of cars, a public transport hub for bus lines and new slip roads for the A28. The results of the talks with local residents will be submitted to Parliament in November at the earliest.

The plans for the arrival of the transferium have been in existence for almost ten years. A hot topic is the adjacent nature of the Drentsche Aa area. Opponents fear that it will come under disproportionate pressure. Last summer, a petition was handed over to the provincial government with more than three thousand signatures against the construction.

Within the municipality of Tynaarlo, there is also division within the council and the municipal executive about the proposed plan. An amendment to the zoning plan is necessary, but that has not yet been ticked off.

“In conversation with the Municipal Executive of Tynaarlo, it has been established that there are differing views about the plans and that doubts about the usefulness and necessity influence the decision-making process with regard to the zoning plan,” the province writes.

In addition, an exemption from the applicable nature conservation laws has been applied for. No decision has been made on this either.
