Province wants to continue with Vital Holiday Parks: ‘Program is now on steam’

The Drenthe provincial government wants to extend the Vital Holiday Parks program until the end of 2024. This time is there, among other things, to further increase the effectiveness.

The Vital Holiday Parks Program has been active since 2018. It states, among other things, that by 2023 Drenthe wants to have fifty parks that excel and fifty parks want to start a transformation process. In a nutshell, this means that those parks will have to undergo a complete makeover or will no longer be considered a holiday park.

At the end of last year it turned out that the program is not yet at the desired level. The program is particularly affected by the capacity of municipalities. The interim report stated that twenty parks are ‘excellent’, but 32 are still in transition. With this, Drenthe lagged behind its own ambition. “We need to accelerate more”, stated the evaluation of ZKA Leisure Strategy.

According to the province, the program is now well underway. “Stopping the program now means that this investment in collaboration will be negated, while the ‘harvest period’ is only now really starting.”
