The nitrogen map, which indicates the percentage by which the nitrogen must be reduced per area, is set aside by the province of Drenthe. Deputy Henk Jumelet made this known in a response to the cabinet’s nitrogen plan.
“After the letters from ministers Christianne van de Wal (for nature and nitrogen) and Henk Staghouwer (agriculture, nature and food quality) were published, I have seen unrest, anger and despair among many farmers and their families,” says provincial administrator Jumelet. “That affects us all. In the many conversations, dissatisfaction has been expressed about the one-sided emphasis on the contribution of the farmers. As far as I am concerned, that did not go well.”
