After the holidays, the province will talk to farmers about the inverted flags along the Drenthe roads. That writes the Provincial Executive in response to questions from GroenLinks. For now, the flags can stay, but after that they will have to go.
GroenLinks had asked questions about the protest flags along provincial roads on 15 July. “The unambiguity, recognizability and safety of the road layout does not benefit from the hung flags,” GroenLinks wrote at the time. In addition, the flags hang on property belonging to the province. And they had to leave there, GroenLinks thought.
The province writes in the answer that everyone has the right to demonstrate, and that that is a great good. But it looks like the flags will have to leave after the holidays – or for politics the summer recess.
“There are people who, for various reasons, have difficulty with the inverted flags. Respect for each other and the clearing up of expressions on properties of general interest fit in with this. That is why we will have a conversation with farmers after the summer recess about the finite nature of the action.”
In the meantime, the province is monitoring safety on the roads and waterways. If it becomes unsafe, the province intervenes. monitor.
