He ruined dozens of Berliners with “junk real estate” and made a living from it in the lap of luxury. Sentenced to five years in prison, Berlin’s notorious “protz broker” Kai-Uwe K. (42) was released early on probation and continued as he left off – with a fake doctorate!

Tiergarten District Court. A sheet of paper on the right and left, with a bald head in between: That’s how Kai-Uwe K. sits in the dock.

Profession? “Real estate agent.” Merit? “Settled.” Criminal for over 20 years. Schöneberg residence. Million villa in Brandenburg (gilded fittings, luxury cars in the garages). Last sentenced in June 2012 to 5 years in prison (commercial gang fraud, coercion, tax evasion). He had sold junk real estate to inexperienced people, adding up to a third of the purchase price as commission. He was released on probation in October 2014!

The new charge: misuse of title and forgery of documents (had passport, identity card, driver’s license issued to “Dr. K.”).

The noble mansion was peppered with six edged weapons in secret hiding places. Only the wrong doctor gives “Dr. Protz” to: “I used the title countless times. To improve my reputation.”

He denies owning a gun: “My mother’s deceased partner was a gun enthusiast who remodeled the house.” The false doctoral certificate reads: “Doctor rerum politicarum – for moral ethics in valuation”.

Kai-Uwe K.: “That’s what the lady at the district office in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg came up with. She probably thought it was funny.” She was given a year’s probation for similar offenses (after six months in custody). Judgment against “Dr. Splurge” on July 10th.
