Protest for non-receiving television guide over, demonstrator leaves: “Read my guide at home now”

The lone demonstrator who protested in Hilversum yesterday and this morning to have another television guide delivered has gone home. His demonstration was successful: he received his television guide yesterday, today he also received his expenses. “Thank goodness it has been solved”, Piet van den Berg responds with relief.

“I would like to express my gratitude to all the people who have taken care of me these days,” says Van den Berg. At 6:30 a.m. on Monday, his protest against Bindinc, the company that makes the guide, began.

The demonstrator has not received TrosKompas a number of times in recent months. Usually the guide was delivered a few days later after a few phone calls, but last week the mailbox remained empty.

“I have already received a new TrosKompas from AVROTROS, but I don’t want this to happen again.” Bindinc has now promised to transfer his travel expenses, and will call him every week for the next two months to check whether he has received his guide. “I am very pleased that it has finally been resolved.”

‘Not easy’

Although Van den Berg did not find it easy to sit in front of the building for a whole day – with heavy rain showers – he also had a good time: “I am happy, because it is not nothing, sitting like this day and night. I was kept going by the people around me. People honked when they drove by, I was brought a lot of coffee and cake, it was great.”

He is now back home in Dordrecht. “I’m going to sit on the couch and read my guide.”

Mail deliverers

According to AVROTROS, the problem is not with Bindinc, but with some distribution centers and PostNL. A spokesperson for AVROTROS says that they have asked the management of PostNL for clarification about the poor delivery service.
