Protest against Ventilus at Bart De Wever’s visit

About 50 people had gathered at the entrance of the Europahallen in Tielt, where Bart De Wever was expected to give a speech. The activists handed out pamphlets to the people who entered the hall. The action groups have long opposed the Ventilus project, the high-voltage line that should carry the electricity from the sea to the interior, right through West Flanders.

But De Wever entered through another entrance and the activists did not get to see him. It was clear he had no intention of talking to them. The activists wanted to meet De Wever to keep the pressure on. Via De Wever they hoped to get to Demir to plead their case once more, before the Flemish government finally takes the plunge.

It has been several weeks now that the Ventilusintendant has submitted his final report to the Flemish government, but it remains silent and no one knows exactly what it contains. What does the intendant recommend in his report? Will the Flemish government opt for the traditional high-voltage line or for an underground pipeline, whether or not over part of the route?
