Protest against construction project Broelparking Kortrijk

150 residents signed a notice of objection.

The building that used to house the Orangerie banquet hall is being demolished. The city submitted an allotment permit for apartments and houses. She discussed this with the neighborhood in July, but it has been quiet since then. The residents are not against it, but they want more information.

“Giant Volume”

“We are a bit disturbed by the large construction volume,” says Mathieu Bayart of the neighborhood committee Save Parking Broel.

“We know that in the past there have been planning applications and requests for information for smaller projects of 30 units and the city thought that was too big at the time. Now the city has approved an allotment permit for 81 units. That is a huge volume. We want clarity and participation.”

The deputation also refused the permit for the time being.

“We have taken note of the fact that the province has rejected the allotment permit. We are now preparing a master plan for the spacious neighbourhood. We will take the parking needs into account and have an eye for greening. Based on this master plan, we will then start again. consultation with the neighborhood. Without pinning myself to a date, I commit myself that this will happen this year,” says Wout Maddens, alderman for spatial planning in Kortrijk.
