The tension was palpable, with Krakers suggesting that their differing personalities contributed to the lack of chemistry. “I almost brought out the Myers-Briggs test to analyze their dynamics,” she quipped, implying that the two simply did not mesh well on stage.

The first hours of the show were described as particularly stilted by Roos van Riel from Parool. “Yes, Peter Pannekoek is quite hyper,” she wrote, acknowledging that it could be exhausting to watch. “Janine Abbring struggled with it, and though she persisted, it didn’t yield the desired results.”
Viewer reactions echoed this sentiment, with criticism flowing into forums. One commentator, Fab, remarked, “It was a bizarre episode. Abbring and Pannekoek had zero chemistry.” The dynamic was likened to a schoolteacher scolding a troublesome student rather than that of two engaging conversationalists.

Critics pointed out that the show’s failure to connect its themes was largely due to Abbring. One viewer claimed, “The only takeaway was Abbring’s glasses, which seemed to reflect a lack of psychological depth after so many seasons.” It was evident that Abbring struggled to grasp the chosen video segments and failed to weave them into a compelling conversation.
The ratings for this episode reached only 401,000 viewers, which fell short of expectations. According to TV critic Victor Vlam, “For this program, that number is substantial, but with a guest like Peter Pannekoek, you would expect higher ratings.” This lack of viewer engagement speaks volumes about the chemistry—or lack thereof—between the host and the guest.
