The broadcaster ProSieben is currently working on its program again. In this case, this particularly affects fans of US series formats.

How exactly a television program is composed depends on the target group and a number of other parameters. In any case, an important aspect is the broadcast time. The time slot at 8:15 p.m. is particularly popular and is therefore also known as prime time. And it is precisely in this time window that ProSieben seems to be mixing things up again. In Germany, the station is known, among other things, for broadcasting US series such as “The Big Bang Theory” and “Two and a Half Men”. One of several regular slots for these formats is traditionally Monday evening at prime time. However, that should change at the end of November.

US series on Monday evenings on ProSieben

The successful series “The Simpsons” can currently be seen in the coveted time slot, but only until November 13th. Then “The Big Bang Theory” spin-off “Young Sheldon” lands in primetime on Monday evenings for a short time. ProSieben is showing four episodes of the series in a row, thus concluding the sixth season of the series. From November 27th, however, a significant change to the program will herald the pre-Christmas season.

What does the channel show instead?

As ProSieben announced, television journalist Jenke von Wilmsdorff is taking over. The reporter is no stranger to viewers, as he has already implemented several investigative formats for the station.

“Jenke. “The Sugar Experiment” is a program in which von Wilmsdorff once again goes into a drastic self-experiment and examines the short-term effects of sugar on the body. To do this, he consumes 1 kilogram of the sweetener every day – according to our colleagues at FITBO.K.O.K Significantly fewer grams per day are extremely harmful to the body.

Another Jenke format follows on November 4th, which deals with the influence of the Italian mafia in Germany. A show about artificial intelligence continues on Monday, December 11th in prime time on ProSieben. But what does this mean for the popular comedies and sitcoms that usually air on Monday nights?

US series remain with ProSieben

A look at the numbers paints a mixed picture for the channel’s US series division. On Monday, November 6th, ProSieben showed a mix of episodes from “Young Sheldon”, “The Simpsons” and “The Big Bang Theory” from 8:15 p.m. Longer formats such as “Loriot 100” (Das Erste), “Solo für Weiss” (ZDF), “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” (RTL) or “Goodbye Deutschland!” (Vox) were shown on other major channels. While “Young Sheldon” achieved comparatively good ratings at the start (7.8 and 6.5 percent in the target group), en“The Simpsons” was more deceiving from around 9 p.m (5.2 and 4.6 percent, respectively).

Nevertheless, contrary to other media reports, fans of US series probably don’t have to worry for the time being. According to ProSieben spokesman Christoph Körfer, the program change is a proven concept that viewers are already used to. “Reports by Jenke von Wilmsdorff on Monday are very familiar to ProSieben viewers. But we can reassure TECHBOOK readers. After the holidays, US series will run again as usual on Monday.”

If you don’t want to miss out on series like “Modern Family”, “Two and a Half Men” or episodes of the cult sitcom “Friends” by then, you will either find what you are looking for on various streaming services or have to resort to other time slots on ProSieben.
