Two months before the start of the European Championships in Mönchengladbach, hockey world champion Germany showed its winning mentality again and achieved its second victory in the ProLeague after winning the World Cup in January.
The team of national coach André Henning defeated leaders Great Britain 3: 2 (2: 1) in London on Tuesday (June 20th, 2023) and scored the winning goal from Gonzalo Peillat two seconds before the end after a penalty corner.
Before that, Raphael Hartkopf and Elian Mazkour scored the first two goals for the German team. “We did a good job today. It was only the second game after a long break. But we’re on the right track.”said goal scorer Hartkopf.
Six games left
With 14 points from ten games, the DHB selection is second to last in the ProLeague season, but still has six games to improve the points account.
In the next two games in Amsterdam, Germany will first meet New Zealand (June 23) and then the Netherlands (June 24), who, alongside Wales and France, are also preliminary round opponents at the European Championship (August 18-27).
