Product of the week: The Croc

What is it:

In 2022, the iconic Crocs have made their big comeback. Since then, the popularity of the shoe has grown steadily and the Crocs label has become one of the most famous shoe brands of today. Originally developed as a boat shoe, the plastic shoe is now known for its unusual design and comfortable fit. The Croc typically appears as a rounded plastic clog with holes on the top and a strap on the heel.

Why you should order it:

The lightweight shoe has evolved beyond its origins as a boat shoe and expanded into other fashion segments, appealing to a wide range of customers – from healthcare workers to models and influencers. The growing interest is also reflected in Crocs’ collaboration with other major fashion labels and musicians, who put their own design stamp on the shoe. As Crocs have grown in popularity, alternative versions of the shoe have emerged and other brands and labels have begun to design their own versions of the casual plastic clog.

Where we saw him:

Crocs were extremely present on the SS24 runways. The presence of the style wasn’t just linked to the shoe label itself: Simone Rocha was one of the few to secure an official collaboration with Crocs and, in addition to her SS24 collection, also showed her collaboration with Crocs at her show. Other labels showed their own variations on the silhouette. Fendi presented clogs with an upper reminiscent of reptile skin. Sacai revised the silhouette even further and presented a toeless model with a platform sole. The Crocs brand is benefiting from its current popularity, which is reflected in the almost limitless number of collaborations: from Levi’s to Balenciaga to Palace.

How to style it:

The classic Croc has always been a special statement: the eye-catching shoe can be decorated with pendants, so-called Jibbitz, and thus easily personalized. More and more big fashion houses are jumping on the trend and releasing luxurious versions of the clog. Accordingly, the more casual shoe can be enhanced with elegant clothing. Straight-cut trousers with a matching blazer can be contrasted with comfortable shoes. Anklets or socks complete the look and add additional texture and color to the outfit.

Although Crocs have never fallen out of favor, they are currently experiencing a new high in popularity, as evidenced by the multitude of collaborations and increasing presence on the international catwalks. This has led to more and more similar spin-offs being brought onto the market as customer demand is high.
