Many designers took up the silhouette in their collections and showed the massive shapes of the sweater, with rounded shoulders and oversized cuts. Compact and simple knitting techniques predominated and cable knitting patterns were rarely seen. The sweaters made statements primarily through their new silhouettes.

From autumn to spring, knitwear is the first choice for outerwear. This also applies to the trendy chunky knit sweaters, which can be found in both the men’s and women’s collections. Knitted sweaters are a classic in winter – the chunky knit version enhances the standard look and brings more life to it. Fashion brands and designers have become more experimental with their designs in order to offer customers a larger selection of models that almost seem like one-of-a-kind items due to their often unique appearance.

If there was one design detail that was particularly present this season, it was puffed sleeves, which took on a completely unique shape. Loewe, Sacai and Dries Van Noten were pioneers in this regard, bringing round shapes and intricate knitting patterns to their sweaters. Extra-long sleeves that reach past the fingertips also appeared in many designs, including Rokh, Michael Kors and Etro.

Chunky knit clothing is perfect for layering on cold winter days, but can also be an addition to your summer wardrobe and serve as a warm layer for cooler evenings. This season, the sweaters are often cut shorter, so they can be ideally combined with high-waisted trousers – whether corduroy trousers, jeans or fabric trousers. In spring, the sweater can be draped loosely over your shoulder as an eye-catcher.

There was a lot of experimentation with the chunky knit sweater in the SS24 season: many different structures and patterns offer an exciting addition to the traditional knitted wardrobe. Short models with puffed sleeves dominated the designers’ collections, but extravagant details also played an important role in the designs to emphasize the effect of the sweater.
