Producers’ Diary of a Sheepdog investigate return | show

The musical has been a great success, say producers Albert Verlinde and Servé Hermans of Toneelgroep Maastricht. More than 80,000 people have visited the performance in ten weeks. The public should just want to come to Limburg, say Verlinde and Hermans. “And they did that in great numbers. Not only the people who already live in Limburg, but people from all over the Netherlands came to Maastricht and often turned it into a holiday weekend. And everyone was praising.”

Due to that success, the possibilities are now being explored to continue the performance, the producers say. “We also hear from the audience that many people are disappointed that the performance is no longer playing.” However, there is a lot involved in organizing a musical, according to Verlinde and Hermans. “We have to look at the availability of the people, the location and the technology.” But, they conclude, “the plans look good.”
