Proceedings against ex-business partner of Kliemann discontinued

The public prosecutor’s office in Stade has dropped the investigation against influencer Fynn Kliemann’s ex-business partner, Tom Illbruck, without a condition. This was announced by a spokesman for the dpa on Thursday. Illbruck said he considers himself “completely rehabilitated from the allegations made at the time”. In March, the authority had already stopped the proceedings against musician and businessman Fynn Kliemann against payment of 20,000 euros.

The public prosecutor had determined after a TV report by the satirist Jan Böhmermann against Kliemann and Illbruck. In addition to a suspicion of fraud, the main concern was the suspicion of violating the law against unfair competition.

Kliemann, who ran an event location near Bremen, and Illbruck’s textile company from North Rhine-Westphalia were criticized in May 2022 by the TV report on ZDF. At the heart of the article was the question of whether the country of production was deliberately kept secret when the textile company did business with a wholesaler in 2020 – masks came from Asia instead of Europe.
